Parkland golfers were trying to win the travel vouchers from Boomerang Travel in Saturday’s Mixed Canadian event. It didn’t take long to sort out the could be`s and would be`s. A much surprised couple in Jenny Todd and Les Jones finished with a net 53.5 to claim victory with Di Day and Max Jenkins runnerup on a net 54.5. Third went to Jan Gentle and John Thompson with a net 54.9. A men’s stableford event went to Vaughan Moss with 38 points with Chris Oman runnerup on 37 points. Balls down the line went to Naomi/Joshua Cartwright, Faye Glover/John Bauerle, Heather/ Vin Sleeth, Howard Teasdale and Mark Percy. Nearest the pins went to Kathy Bell 9th, Peter Fraser 18th and John Bauerle 1st . Encouragement awards went to Betty Baker, Lindsay Tatterson and Kjell Johnsen.
Wednesday’s stroke men’s stroke event had a memorial touch with players trying to win the Barry Nankivell award. The main trophy was presented by Steve Nankivell to Mel Lusher who put in a blinder to win C Grade with
66-18-48 and will have his name inscribed on the trophy. Runnerup in that grade went to Noel Reddrop with
71-22-49 while third went to Roden Brady with 76-21-55. Vin Sleeth won A Grade with 67-13-54. Runnerup was Tom Haigh on 67-12-55. John Bauerle won B Grade with 71-16-55. Murray Maxwell was runnerup with 73-17-56. Nearest the pins went to Wilf Reuther 1st. Tom Haigh 9th for the Kyabram Pizza and Pasta voucher while Harry Wayland on the 15th for the Clive Coventry Funeral voucher. Kevin Bell collected the Kyabram Main Street Butchery voucher on the 18th. The encouragement award went to Tom Blight. Ball winners were Sid Trevaskis, David Wassell,Glen Smith,Tom McDonald,Bert Blackney,Merv Close,Les Jones and Geoff Coad.
Pennant: The young pennant team went down 5/0 against Rich River on their home turf last Sunday. This week’s game will be at Nagambie at 12:00 against Mooroopna.
JUNIOR GOLF: Those budding junior golfers who wish to learn can try out of a Saturday morning commencing at 9.30 am.
BINGO: It was a great surprise to a bingo patron last Thursday when she collected $2,462 for just a two dollar outlay in the National Big Bucks one off game. This week’s inhouse Jackpot will be $1,000 in 56 calls.
