15TH September, 2018 PARKLAND GOLF REPORT:
Golfers experienced the worst wind factor that one can remember where golf balls were rolling unaided on the greens in Saturday’s stroke event at Parkland. Tom McDonald flew under the radar to record an impressive win in C Grade finishing with a 48 net off his 28 handicap. Runnerup seven shots way was Graham Gordon with 73-18-55. A Grade was won by David Kuiper with 65-8-57. B Grade was won by John Bauerle with 69-16-53 after a countback from Les Mitchell on 70-17-53. Mary Trimby collected the A Grade trophy for the women’s event with 71-19-52. Runnerup was Pauline Laidlaw with 74-20-54 and that was after a countback from Lana McInnes. Bev Howard won B Grade with 78-23-55 while Lynne McLean was runnerup on 78-22-56. Ball winners were Lana McInnes, Heather Sleeth, Marg Flint, Sue Reid, Ken Risstrom, Norm Tucker, John MacFadyen, Glen Smith and Noel Reddrop. Nearest the pin on number one was David Kuiper whilst Heather Sleeth on the 9th and Tom McDonald on the 18th. The encouragement award went to Daphne Smith.
Wednesday’s men’s best ball stableford event was won by Bob McArdle and Tom McDonald with 48 points. Runnerup was Kevin Jewell and Kjell Johnsen with 46 points after a countback from Mark Percy and Rob Reid, whilst John Thompson and Brian Prendergast were fourth with 45 points. Ball winners were Max Jenkins/Les Jones, Kevin Davis/Allan Williams, David Wassell/Norm Tucker, Mel Lusher/John MacFadyen. Nearest the pin went to John Mac Fadyen 1st, Len Flint 9th for the voucher from Ky Pizza and Pasta, Kevin Davis on the 15th for the Clive Coventry Funeral voucher while Brian Prendergast scored the voucher on the 18th from Kyabram Main Street Butchery. Laurie Coble and Graham Gordon won the encouragement award.
COURSE CLOSED: The course will be closed on Monday and Tuesday next week due to annual renovating of the greens. The course will reopen on Wednesday for both men’s and women’s events.
ANNUAL TOURNAMENT: Entries for the events starting on Saturday, 6th October can be forwarded to Peter Fraser or enter names on the notice board in the Clubhouse. Names will also be taken for the Special Nine Hole event to be held on Sunday,7th October. Cost is $10 with a barbeque to follow. Winners will be able to participate in the regional final at Mooroopna Golf Club at a later date.
BINGO: Another lucky player won a $1,000 recently at Parkland Bingo having the lowest number of calls for the week on the Big Bucks game throughout Eastern Australia.
