Rod and Ray were the standout golfers last Wednesday for the men with both scoring more than 40 points in their respective grades. Rod Donohue finished with 43 points for the stableford event to win C Grade. Runnerup also with a credible score of 38 points was John Hausler while Steve Walsh was next with 37 points after a countback. Ray Falla shot the best scratch score of the day to card a 59. His round included a one over28 for the first nine with four over on the back to record 41 points for his A Grade win. Runnerup was Tony Potts with 37 points. Mal Williams won B Grade with 35 points after a countback from Max Jenkins. Third went to Bryan Prendergast also on 35 points. Ball winners were Kjell Johnsen, Wayne Ferguson,Scott Hausler,Chris Harmer,Bob Troy,John Thompson,Murray Maxwell and Ray Coleman.
Saturday’s stroke event attracted a field of 100 for the second week in row. Ed McQuienn won the men’s A Grade with 62-8-54. Runnerup was Sam Attardi with
64-9-55 after a countback from Tom McConchie
66-11-55 for third. B Grade went to Don McKenzie with
68-14-54 after a countback from Barry Williams
71-17-54 also on a countback from Cameron Price from Traralgon who carded 70-16-54. David Shaw shot the lights out in C Grade with net score of 48 off 23. David will surely lose some strokes for his effort. Not to be outdone Chris Harmer also went under the radar carded a
73-23-50 to be runnerup. Steve Walsh was third with 69-18-51. Ball winners were Tim Hood,Greg Ryan,Vin Sleeth, Vaughan Moss,Gary Mckenzie,Murray Maxwell,Kevin Jewell,Darren Baird,Peter Clark,Bob Troy,David Cartwright and Howard Teasdale. For the second week in a row
Lana McInnes played steady golf to edge out Mary Elliott for the main trophy in the women’s A Grade event. Lana carded
68-15-53 while Mary made 73-20-53. B Grade went to Faye Roberts on 77-24-53. Runnerup was Helen Caldwell with 78-24-54. Irene Paynter also carded back to back wins with 90-39-51. Runnerup was Caitlyn Cartwright for her first trophy finished with
85-30-55 Ball winners were Faye Glover,Kathy Bell, Daphne Jewell, Bev McLay, Christine Coleman, Pauline Laidlaw and Bev Howard.
PARKLAND WOMEN
It was back into playing competition golf last Tuesday with the stableford winner in A Grade going to Ina Hogeboom from (Merrigum) with 39 points. Runner-up was Kathy Bell on 35 points. B Grade went to Kathy Fanning with 39 points, Bev Howard with 38 points was runner-up. C Grade saw Jenny Todd with 36 points win on a countback from Jan Rayner also with 36. Third was Irene Paynter with 34 points. Ball Competition winners were Margaret Tucker Mary Trimby, Mary Elliott, R.Turpin, Barbara Duke,Heather Sleeth,Lorna Alchin,Bev Wickham and Di Day on a countback.The Roma Fraser Memorial Brooch winner was Kathy Fanning.This event runs over a five week period.
